Bone Density Scans
A bone density test, or DEXA scan, is a simple, painless procedure in which you lie flat on a comfortable exam table while the density of lower back and hip bones is measured. DEXA scans are utilized at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.
For your appointment, in most cases, you can remain in your normal clothes although you will have to remove belt buckles, buttons or jewelry from the area examined. The scan usually takes no more than 10 minutes. The report will be sent Dr. Kirchner for review and you will either be contacted or be seen at a follow up visit to discuss the results.
